Experimental Study on MIMO Performance of Modulated Scattering Antenna Array in Indoor Environment

چکیده
The modulated scattering antenna array (MSAA) is composed of one normal antenna element and several modulated scattering elements (MSEs). In this report, a 2-element MSAA is used as the receiving antenna in 2 × 2 multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system. MIMO performance of MSAA with various array spacing is measured to investigate the relation between the array spacing and the MIMO performance of the MSAA experimentally in the nonline-of-sight (NLOS) indoor environment. It is found that the error vector magnitude (EVM) and the channel capacity which reflect MIMO performance can be affected by the array spacing. The measured results of the MSAA were compared with that of twodipole antenna array at the same condition.

متن کاملNumerical Analysis on MIMO Performance of the Modulated Scattering Antenna Array in Indoor Environment
The multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) performance of the modulated scattering antenna array (MSAA) is analyzed numerically for the first time in indoor environment based on an approach to hybridization of the Volterra series method and method of moments (MoM) in this letter. Mutual coupling effect between the Modulated scattering element (MSE) and the normal antenna element is also consider...
متن کاملEffect of antenna properties on MIMO-capacity in real propagation channels
Abstract: In this paper, experimental investigations are performed to compare different MIMO antenna configurations at the mobile and base stations. The goal is to provide new information on the effects of antenna properties on MIMO performance. At the mobile station, the effect of using different elements in arrays is studied. Further, at the base station, the effects of increasing the number ...
متن کاملGeometric Modelling of a Spatially Correlated Mimo Fading Channel
For a single antenna channel, Shannon’s classical capacity formula predicts a capacity increase of approximately 1 bit/cycle for every 3 dB increase in signal to noise ratio (SNR). Consequently in multiple antenna arrays, with n antenna elements, the increase in capacity can be in the order of the number of antenna elements, n more bits/cycle for each 3dB increase in SNR. This tremendous gain i...
متن کاملSource Location Estimation Using Phaseless Measurements with the Modulated Scatter- Ing Technique for Indoor Wireless Environ- Ments
This paper proposes the source location estimation technique with the modulated scattering technique (MST) for indoor wireless environments. The uniform circular scatterer array (UCSA) that consist of five optically modulated scatterers as array elements and a dipole antenna at the center of the UCSA is employed for estimating a source location from the impinging signal. In contrast with a conv...
